I'm always surprised at the cross over of paper crafters and fabric crafters. It seems that if someone likes fabric they also love paper. Both seem to go hand in hand. Case in point, I met this nice lady at the quilt store where I work and she was purchasing more fabric to complete three more shadow boxes for her grand babies.
She found a scrapbook page in a magazine that she really liked and found fabrics that resembled the paper. She cut up all the fabric into little squares and sewed them back together. Then she embroidered the child's name on the fabric and embellished the "page" with her favorite charms and trinkets.
It was such a hit with one grandchild and the mom, that the other grandchildren all wanted their own. That's why she was back in the store.
She also embellished the back of the shadow box. Even though it would hang against the wall, she knew as the kids got older they'd take it down to look at it. She thought of it as her "little secret" with them.
Yes, I've truly been in zombie mode lately. I walk through the days, weeks and months on auto pilot. Well, maybe not auto-pilot, more like a dazed & confused mental state. Every time I think my week or month will ease up a little and let me get back to some sense of normalcy, I get slammed again with a to-do list that is weeks long. Even my computer rebels against me! It's dies when I have just one hour to get some real work done!
But, I'm going to try this again...to start posting regularly, however small or inconsiquential it might seem, I'll put something out here.
For the rest of today however, I have to stay off the computer because my computer guy will be working on it remotely. Because, yes of course. It's still not cooperating with me from a month ago!
I'm really enjoying this new Undefined Stamp Kit, from Stampin' Up! First I made a chicken and then I made a little fox face.
Isn't he just the cutest little thing? Or maybe he's a she? Nonetheless, carving your own stamp is so much fun once you get over the fear factor. What should I carve next? Any suggestions? Why don't you give it a try and send me a photo of your art?
Or don't. You can be Undefined and create your own identity! I'm talking about the new Undefined Stamp Kit from Stampin' Up! that allows you to draw your image, carve it out of rubber and stamp it on your favorite cardstock. Like this,
I was so excited when the new item was introduced at convention last week that I came right home and ordered it. Then it came in and I was paralyzed with what to draw first. One of my girlfriends suggested a chicken (of course) so I went ahead and tried it out. It was so much fun that I immediately carved another image. You'll see that one tomorrow. I filmed a Vine to show how much fun this Undefined Kit is. Enjoy!
Took me a bit to get my numbers worked out but, here it is :-)

By the way, have you checked out the stamp sets on sale this month for 25% off? Fuhhuuun! I've already bought mine. I've been itching to purchase the Petite Pairs for the last year and with this sale, it was just the right price for me!
It's only been 2 1/2 months since I last posted! How does life get in the way like that? Let's see, 2 teenagers (girls), none of said teenagers driving yet, school ending, busy busy with school duties, house chores, chickens, teenage boyfriends (need chaperons for everything!), new part time job at The Texas Quilter, quilting, and....stamping! Yes, I'm still stamping. I don't feel like I ever finish one project from beginning to end but, I do try.
How about this little combo? My new neighbors just moved in and had a new baby within 6 weeks of moving. I don't know them except when I first met them on moving day. I wanted to make them feel welcome so I when she had her baby, I made her this little baby quilt with some left over fabric from a previous project. The pattern is from Nancy Halvorsen's book Curiosities & Mischief.
Then of course I had to make a sweet little baby tag to go with the gift so I used the Storybook Friends stamp set and watercolors to make this tag.
So that's all for tonight. I need some serious sleep. All I've done for the last 7 days is taxi children around. I'm beat! Tomorrow I'm going to teach my 16 yr old how to ride the city buses to get around town. I'll be with her the whole time so if she gets lost, I'll be right there. The blind leading the blind!
Hey! The new catalog is out! But, I bet you already knew that so I'll show you what I've ordered and what I'm excited about instead of just the catalog cover. Unless you want to see that too? Well then, here it is! As soon as my order comes in, I'll show you what new toys I have :-)
It must be something about paper and fabric that brings quilters and stampers together in perfect harmony. So much so that Stampin' Up! debuted designer fabric a couple of years ago. The fabric is designed to match certain Designer Series Papers and stamp sets and is usually part of a Product Suite. Like The Summer Smooches Ensemble. The Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper,
So when The Quilt Asylum was having their Bring & Brag at the beginning of the month, of course I had to use Stampin' Up!'s fabric to make a card holder and stamp some beautiful notecards to tuck inside it.
I stamped six sweet cards with envelopes and put them in this cheerful fabric card holder. If you want to see instructions for making the fabric card holder you can find them here. Not only did I have something to show that I made but, I also donated it as a door prize that day. I love to give stuff away!
