Tea isn't really in my routine. Diet Coke is more my style. I have to have one or two first thing in the morning (instead of coffee) and another about 4:00 in the afternoon. Something about that fizzy goodness that makes me smile. That doesn't mean that I don't like to make adorable little gifts like this one, a Tea Bag Treat!
Would you like to make one for yourself? Get your paper, scissors and Simply Scored and let's get to work!
Supplies used:
Simply Scored #122334, $29.95, Flirtatious Specialty DSP #122360 $12.95, Whisper White Cardstock #100730 $8.50/40 sheets, Pink Pirouette 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon #122981 $6.95/10yds, Victoria Crochet Trim #118481 $6.95/5yds, Blossom Builders Designer Kit #125410 $9.95, Designer Printed Brads #122940 $7.95/40pcs
Trim the 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 8 1/2" x 12". Our DSP is printed on both sides in a complimentary color and design so it's perfect for this project because you'll see the inside and outside of the project at the same time.
Save the trimmed off piece of paper. We'll use a piece of it to make the gift card.
Score the paper in the horizontal position at 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 5", 7", 9 1/2" & 10 3/4".
Score the paper in the vertical position at 2 1/2" & 6"
If you don't have the Simply Scored for this, you're missing out on the simple joys of life ;-)
In each of the 4 corners of the paper, there is a square outlined with score lines that measures 2 1/5" square. Cut out these sections from all four corners. I highlighted them here so that you could see what I was talking about.
Decide what side of the paper you want to be the outside. Place the "outside" of the paper face down on the table, you'll be looking at the inside of the project as you continue working. After you have cut out the 2 1/2" corners, you are going to fold in the next 4 corners at an angle.
Then fold in the side flaps (that have the folded corners) so that they meet in the middle. These are going to form the pockts to put stuff in. You don't need to tape them in place. They'll hold together when you're done. Trust me.
Flip the project over on the other side and fold one side up at the score mark and the other side up at the score mark. Your little folded pockets should be on the outside of the holder now.
This is what it looks like when you have folded up both sides to the middle. See the pockets it's made? See it coming together now?
The top sides will have a score mark. Fold at the score mark to make little flaps.
Using your Crop-A-Dile, punch 2 holes at the top of the flaps, in the middle. These will be used for your ribbon and to hold your treat bag closed and in place.
Get some cute matching tea bags. This was all I had for the rare occasion that I do have a cup of tea.
I added some little cookies into our small cello bag and tucked them into the middle. The top of the cello bag sticks out and is held shut & in place with the ribbon tie.
Make a little gift card using Whisper White cardstock trimmed to 3" x 6". Score the cardstock in half at 3". Trim the left over DSP at 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" and layer it on the white gift card. Adhere Blossom Builder flowers and designer brad.
Put your little card in the pocket on the other side.
You're done!!

Good to see my design used on your blog, I demonstrated this at the San Antonio Regional last year and every one seems to like it, Love your tutorial on it,

I used to try to quit until I went to SU! convention and found EVERY coke machine empty EVERY morning!! I gave up after that because obviously I wasn't the only one in the world who wanted a soda first thing in the morning. I wasn't that weird after all!

Oh my, I know what you mean, I love having soda in the morning to wake me up. I try so hard not to buy it and I have changed to water and tea and soda two times a week-so hard to quit!
